It’s April already? We’ve had a busy first quarter of 2018. Team Solo has held multiple events at Atlanta Motor Speedway, the March Majors at Road Atlanta is in the books, and Road Rally Chairman Mark Johnson is preparing a spring rally.
But wait there’s more!
A revised model for Time Trials is in its infancy with the first large-scale national championship event in the fall. To test the concept Atlanta Region has joined with North Carolina Region, South Carolina Region, and the SCCA National Office to host a preliminary event May 26th and 27th at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, South Carolina.
This is new territory for us – Solo and Road Racing have decades of history in SCCA. Time Trials has existed for many years as well but hasn’t experienced the same growth. The revised concept is a means of growing Time Trials for the future.
This is an event that has something for Solo drivers, Road Race drivers, and drivers we haven’t found.
I’ve been fortunate to have experienced the opening of new tracks and I’ve traveled to tracks in other parts of the country, so I’m looking forward to participating in a new concept for SCCA.
